AU to EU Bra Size

European bands are centimetre-derived: AU 8 is EU 65, AU 10 is EU 70, then five per step.

Band conversion is arithmetic and reliable. Cup naming is a convention that varies by brand – always check the retailer’s own chart before ordering.

Why EU numbers look different

European band numbers approximate the underbust measurement in centimetres, rounded to the nearest five. That is why they climb 65, 70, 75, 80 rather than 30, 32, 34. It is arguably the most transparent of the four systems: an EU 75 band is aimed at roughly a 75 cm underbust.

EU cup letters

Most European brands continue the alphabet rather than doubling letters. An AU DD is an EU E; an AU E is an EU F; an AU F is an EU G. The offset grows by one letter for every doubled letter in the AU sequence.

Some German and Scandinavian brands follow the UK convention instead, doubling letters. If a European chart lists DD or FF, treat it as UK-style and read the cup across unchanged.

Worth knowing

  • French sizing sometimes adds 15 to the EU band number (EU 75 becomes FR 90). Check whether a chart says “EU” or “FR”.
  • Italian sizing occasionally uses 1, 2, 3, 4 for bands. Convert from the centimetre measurement, not from the number.
  • EU retailers usually publish underbust and bust ranges in centimetres, which is the most reliable thing to match against.

Check the fit, not just the label

A converted size is the size to try on first. Run the seven fit checks before deciding whether it worked, and note your sister sizes in case the band is off.
