Band conversion is arithmetic and reliable. Cup naming is a convention that varies by brand – always check the retailer’s own chart before ordering.

Cup letters are the same
Australia inherited British cup sizing, including the doubled letters. A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J. An AU DD is a UK DD. An AU FF is a UK FF. This is the only one of our four conversions where the cup needs no translation at all.

What still varies
- Band elastic. British brands that specialise in larger cups often cut a firmer band than Australian high-street brands at the same nominal size.
- Cup depth. Same letter, different shape. UK specialist brands frequently run deeper and more projected than an AU chain-store equivalent.
- Sizes above J. Availability, not conversion, becomes the limiting factor. British specialists carry further up the alphabet than most Australian retailers.
Check the fit, not just the label
A converted size is the size to try on first. Run the seven fit checks before deciding whether it worked, and note your sister sizes in case the band is off.
