US to Australian Bra Size
Subtract 22 from the US band. US 34 is AU 12. Then translate the cup letter.

Band conversion is arithmetic and reliable. Cup naming is a convention that varies by brand – always check the retailer’s own chart before ordering.

Translating an American cup letter
The band is straightforward. The cup takes a little care, because American labels above D are inconsistent between brands.
Scroll the table sideways on a narrow screen.
| AU / UK cup | Common US label | Common EU label | Display note |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | A | A | Usually aligned |
| B | B | B | Usually aligned |
| C | C | C | Usually aligned |
| D | D | D | Usually aligned |
| DD | DD/E | E | US naming varies |
| E | DDD/F | F | US naming varies |
| F | G | G | Verify brand chart |
| FF | H | H | Verify brand chart |
| G | I | I | Verify brand chart |
| GG | J | J | Verify brand chart |
| H | K | K | Verify brand chart |
| HH | L | L | Verify brand chart |
| J | M | M | Verify brand chart |
| JJ | N | N | Verify brand chart |
| K | O | O | Verify brand chart |
Read the table from the right-hand columns back to the AU column. A US DDD is usually an AU E. A US G is usually an AU F. If an American brand uses DDDD, it is usually an AU F as well – which is exactly why matching to centimetre measurements beats matching to letters.
Worked example
A US 36DDD:
- Band: 36 − 22 = AU 14.
- Cup: US DDD maps to AU E.
- Starting size in Australia: AU 14E, with 12F and 16DD as sister sizes.
A more reliable route
If you have a tape measure, skip the label entirely. Measure your underbust and full bust and let the calculator work from the numbers – it removes one layer of convention from the answer.
Check the fit, not just the label
A converted size is the size to try on first. Run the seven fit checks before deciding whether it worked, and note your sister sizes in case the band is off.
